A seminar on African Growth in the Changing Global Economy will be held at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo on November 27.
Topics in the two-part seminar will be ‘How should Africa cope with the global financial crisis’ and ‘How to implement the TICAD IV promises for sustained growth in Africa.’
The TICAD conference – the Tokyo International Conference on African Development was hosted by Japan earlier this year and explored, among other topics, how the continent could accelerate its economic growth.
The seminar is hosted by JICA, the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo and Britain’s Overseas Development Institute (ODI).
Among the speakers will be ODI Director Simon Maxwell, GRIPS Prof. Akio Hosono, Tanzanian Ambassador Elliy E.E.Mtango, GRIPS Prof. Izumi Ohno, JICA senior advisor Matsuo Watanabe and Kazunori Oshiyama, Director General of JICA’s Africa Department.
